Access, equity and opportunity through food

The Patachou Foundation

A huge part of being a radically different and radically better company is reflected in Patachou Inc.’s commitment to its community. The Patachou Foundation (TPF) has a simple mission: to feed healthy meals to children who live with pervasive food insecurity. Sadly (and shockingly), Indianapolis has the highest amount of food inaccessibility of all major US cities. Eighty percent of children attending Indianapolis Public Schools live at or below poverty and face issues of pervasive food insecurity. Not on our watch.

TPF was created with a simple plan in mind: to start small, grow strategically and to make an immediate impact. How is this accomplished? Modeled after the mother company, TPF is radically different and radically better too. In just five years we’ve gone from serving 35 meals a week to 1,200. How’s that for healthy growth?

Additionally, we teach students how to make healthier choices through weekly hands-on lessons we call “Food Explorers Club.” Participants make connections between nutrition and health, learn basic culinary skills and table manners, and follow their food on its journey from farm to fork- sometimes harvesting the very veggies they eat on our Public Greens Microfarm. Not only are we actively working to provide children in our community with nutritious food, but we’re also empowering them with the knowledge to live an overall healthier lifestyle.

Since starting in 2012, we have fed over 150,000 healthy and scratch-made meals to food insecure children in the Indianapolis Public School system
